Gina Gibney
GINA GIBNEY'S choreography has been widely presented and commissioned in the United States and abroad. She founded Gina Gibney Dance in 1991, and reconceived the company as an all-female ensemble in 1997.
Gibney is a recognized leader in combining the arts with community initiatives. Most recently, she has developed and implemented two community-based projects for the company: Women at Work, reaches into the community with the transforming power of dance and creativity, and Artists at Work strengthens working relationships, supports the creation of new work, and forms new lines of advocacy within dance communities.
She is the founder of Studio 5-2, a vital center of dance in New York City, an officer of Danspace Project's Board of Directors, and a frequent dance curator, panelist, and advisory committee member. Gibney graduated with honors and received an MFA in dance from Case Western Reserve University.
