Sean Curran
SE-N CURRAN (modern, body percussion/Irish step) is a graduate and member of the faculty of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. Sean made his mark on the international dance world as a principal dancer with the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, and received a NY Dance and Performance Bessie Award for his performance in Secret Pastures. He has also been a member of the cast of the Off-Broadway percussion extravaganza Stomp! for the past three years. In 1997, he was commissioned as Artist-In-Residence by Celebrate Brooklyn's Prospect Park Bandshell to present Folk Dance for the Future, a new dance for a large group set to traditional Celtic Mouth music. In March 1997, he and composer Robert Kapilow presented Everybody Dance Now! using dancers from The Boston Conservatory in a program sponsored by the BankBoston Celebrity Series. He has choreographed and taught for the Kansas City Ballet, Denmark's Upper Cut Company, Sweden's Skanes Dance Theater, American Dance Festival's International Teaching Project in Argentina, Texas Women's University, among others.
