Biography

Karin Tooley
Karin Tooley began studying piano at the age of 7 and composition at the age of 15. As a high school senior, she won the Oregon Music Teachers Association prizes in both piano and composition at the state level.
She attended the Cleveland Institute of Music, earning a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance. While still a student, she began accompanying classes at the Cleveland Ballet School and company. Karin has also accompanied ballet and modern dance at Cleveland State University, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland City Dance, Dancing Wheels, and Cleveland School of the Arts. Her original scores include numerous short pieces for school of CJSB, as well as the 75-minute "An Urban Nutcracker", a modern/street version of the tale by CSA's Youth at Risk Dancing and Pilobolus Dance Theatre, which received national attention in Time Magazine and the Wall Street Journal.
